The 3D version of sci-fi adventure "Jurassic Park" ruled China's box office charts in the week ending Aug. 25, grossing 206 million yuan (33.6 million U.S. dollars), according to a film industry weekly.
Steven Speilberg's dinosaur classic hit Chinese screens on Aug. 20. "Monsters University," an American 3D computer-animated comedy, was second in the charts, taking 83 million yuan since its debut on Aug. 23, according to China Film News on Tuesday.
"Unbeatable," a Hong Kong film directed by Dante Lam, came in third, taking in 44.8 million yuan during the week.
The U.S. sci-fi blockbuster "Pacific Rim" ranked fourth, grossing 40.4 million yuan.
"Tiny Times 2," a Chinese-made film, ranked seventh in the charts, grossing 17.2 million yuan.
In the week from Aug. 19 to 25, 13.6 million people visited cinemas nationwide, with a weekly box office total of 480 million yuan, slightly down on the previous week.
