The 3D space disaster movie sees Sandra Bullock and George Clooney on a shuttle mission that goes horribly wrong.

When their spacecraft is destroyed during a space-walk they are cast into the icy void tethered to nothing but each other. Here's a clip:

After being initially overlooked, due to the prominence of the special effects and her co-star, Sandra Bullock is now getting rave reviews for her performance.

Critics say the 49-year-old has reinvented herself with this tough and physically demanding performance and climbed comfortably back into the A-list.

This is what the film's director, Alfonso Cuaron, had to say about the actress' performance:

"She's amazing. I mean the film is Sandra Bullock. The real miracle of this film is Sandra Bullock. Her performance is so truthful, so emotional, so amazing. So I'm very grateful with her."

This is the actress' second hit this year after "The Heat", a comedy in which she stars alongside Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy.
