Themed "Hue Art in the Contemporary Era," the 9th National Exhibition of Chinese Hue Art Paintings opened to the public at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing on Thursday. It is set to run until Dec. 26.

The exhibition is the largest-scaled and upmost academic national exhibition of Chinese hue art paintings to date. Around 400 pieces of outstanding hue art paintings are on display, created by 148 specially-invited, academically nominated and public-selected artists.
The participating artists cover the most active young, middle-aged and senior artists in the hue art world, including the most representative artists from overseas.
With a theme of "Hue Art in the Contemporary Era," the exhibition intends to focus on the existence of the hue art and its inner spirit in the contemporary global culture as well as the transformation of Chinese society and culture.
It also pays close attention to the evolution of and challenges in hue art in creative languages and cultural inheritance, representing the diversified development paths of contemporary hue art paintings and demonstrating the latest academic achievements.
The exhibition aims to promote a new perception of Chinese hue art for society as a whole, in a contemporary context and on a high theoretical level.
The National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) is a national art museum of plastic arts dedicated to collection, research and exhibitions of modern and contemporary artistic works in China. Starting construction 1958, NAMOC was formally opened to the public in 1963. Its main building, with 17 exhibition halls across five stories, covers an area of more than 18,000 square meters.
