Director and actor Xiao Yang, actor Wang Taili, and actress Qu Jingjing attended the film's first press conference along with the pop singer Qu Wanting.
Xiao and Wang first caught public attention in 2010 after releasing a micro movie online, also called "Old Boys."
The video, mainly speaking of their hardships living in Beijing, got hundreds of thousands of hits online, but this big screen version sees them spend the majority of their time in New York City.
Hong Kong film director Daniel Lee Yan-kong was invited to be supervisor on the film.
He spoke about working with Xiao and Wang. "Though they lacked experience at the very beginning, they learned quickly. But most importantly, they have plain and sincere hearts. I like comedies, but I always hope that these kinds of films can inspire us more. Their black humour always makes us laugh with tears. It denotes humanity and philosophy. I like them a lot."
The film is to hit Chinese screens on May the first.
