Young talents presented at The Vogue Talents Corner.com cast new light on the ongoing Milan Autumn-Winter 2014-15 Woman Fashion Week, whose organizers have described emerging designers as a crucial chance for growth of the sector.

The Vogue Talents Corner.com featured an interactive exhibition of 11 emerging clothing, footwear, jewelry and accessories designers with unique stylistic backgrounds from around the world, selected by Vogue Italia and thecorner.com, the luxury online boutique of YOOX Group.

Four friends were the creators of Finlay, which has become an iconic British brand in the eyewear sector. Phyllis Taylor, of Ghanaian origin, moved from the world of music to the world of fashion to launch her brand Sika and express her taste for colors and fabrics, typical of Ghanaian culture.

Nicolo Beretta, born in Milan in 1996 and relocated to Sydney, Australia, at the age of 14, has already received three consecutive awards for his collections. Wadha Al Hajri was a designer based in Qatar influenced by the tribal heritage and renaissance of the Arab world.

The selection was the result of "an overall evaluation process" taking into consideration not only the collections' creativity and manufacture but also the brand vision, commitment and commercial potential, Global Brand Marketing and Communications Director at YOOX Group Maia Guarnaccia told Xinhua.

"Emerging designers were commonly more evaluated by design perspective and at regional local level. But what The Vogue Talents Corner.com aims to provide is a concrete opportunity for young, international and creative people, supporting them in the development and growth of their brands, both at an editorial and commercial level in the global fashion scene," he stressed.

The five-day exhibition, which runs until Sunday, held its opening event in the heart of the Italian fashion capital with more than 1,000 guests from important fashion figures like Stefano Gabbana and Dean and Dan Caten to celebrated journalists in the sector like Anna Wintour and Suzy Menkes.

Guarnaccia noted that though the fashion world was giving more and more attention to the emerging talents, opportunities like The Vogue Talents Corner.com with continual investment and real business support - on Vogue Italia to follow the brand evolution and through the global exposure of thecorner.com to meet the potential international customers - were still very rare.

He also told Xinhua that YOOX Group, which began the multi-brand business in China in 2011, has been working intensively with selected Chinese designers both in China and internationally.

"In the past years through the same project we have presented seven Chinese designers - Uma Wang, Zou You, Rico Manchit Au, Masha Ma, Qiuhao, Shangguan Zhe, Liu Qingyang - in partnership with Vogue Italy in Milan and its local edition with Vogue China in Beijing," Guarnaccia highlighted.

Customers were becoming more and more exigent, the global brand marketing and communications director added. "They are seeking new brands, hard-to-find pieces, exclusive collaborations, unique collections that The Vogue Talents Corner.com, now at its fourth edition, aims to present every year," he said.
