About the animation:

"Lotus Lantern" is an animated feature movie produced and released in 1999 by Shanghai Animation Film Studio. It is based on an ancient Chinese folklore, in which a boy, together with his magic lotus lantern, manages to save his goddess mother who is locked up due to her violation of the rules of Heaven by marrying a mortal.
