About Gong Li:
Chinese actress Gong Li was born on Dec. 31, 1965 and came into international prominence through collaboration with Chinese director Zhang Yimou. Her best-known films include "Red Sorghum" in 1987, "A Terracotta Warrior" in 1990 when she was nominated for Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actress, "Ju Dou" in 1990 which is the first Chinese film nominated for an Academy Award at Cannes, "Raise the Red Lantern" in 1991 when she won the Hundred Flowers Awards for Best Actress, "Farewell My Concubine" in 1993 when she won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actress, "Memoirs of a Geisha" in 2005 and "Coming Home" in 2014.
