The Backstreet Boys are the latest act to have pulled out of the Israel dates of their 2014 tour.

The band was due to play its first-ever shows in Israel, at the Raanana Amphitheater, on July 29th, 30th and 31st.

But an announcement on their website stated that the shows are being postponed, due to the security situation, to assure the safety of the audience.

The dates will be rescheduled for Spring 2015. Tickets for the postponed shows will be honored for the new dates or refunded.

This is the latest in a string of concert cancellations in Israel amid deteriorating security in the country. American musicians Neil Young, Paul Anka, Chick Corea and Stanley Clarke have all cancelled performances in Israel in the past month.

Still slated to perform in the troubled region are thrash metal band Megadeath and pop stars Lana Del Rey and Cee-Lo Green in August. Lady Gaga is also planned to perform in Israel mid-September.
