Renowned Hollywood actor Tom Hanks is writing a series of short stories inspired by his collection of classic typewriters.

The publisher of the stories, Alfred A. Knopf, announced the project on Monday.

Hanks released a statement saying that the "stories are not about the typewriters themselves, but rather, the stories are something that might have been written on one of them."

The actor had his first short story published in The New Yorker last Monday. The story, titled "Alan Bean Plus Four," is about four teens that build a rocket out of parts purchased at a department store, on which they fly to the moon.

No publication date or title for the collection of short stories has been announced.
