China's State Council Information Office has organized a series of cultural events in several countries since 1999. Collectively named "Experience China," the events have been well received by overseas governments, news media and the general public. They have become an established part of China's cultural exchange program, and provide a way for foreign audiences to understand and experience Chinese culture in their own countries.
After travelling to Germany, France, Switzerland, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, South Korea, South Africa, Israel, Turkey, Tanzania, and Uganda, "Experience China" event will be held in Australia and New Zealand from Nov. 9-19, 2014. The activities aim to give the local media and local people a better understanding of Chinese culture and society, to allow them to appreciate the contemporary China.
