As the largest Chinese-French dictionary compiled by China independently, the grand Chinese-French contemporary dictionary has included more than 110,000 items totaling about seven million words, according to the dictionary launch ceremony held in Guangzhou City, capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of China-France diplomatic ties. The new dictionary comes at the right time to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries, said Cao Deming, head of Shanghai International Studies University, at the ceremony.
Deepened cooperation and more personal exchanges have also urged a better and comprehensive dictionary to be published, he said.
