Leshi Internet Information & Technology, also known as LeTV, a Chinese entertainment company and the largest online video company in China, has claimed that China Network Televison(CNTV) and China Hualu Company has infringed its copyright of broadcasting "Empresses in the Palace," a popular TV series in China, and is asking for 60,000yuan (9,666 US dollars) to compensate for this loss.
LeTV claims that the copyright to the TV series belonged to Hua Er Film and Culture Culture Company and authorized sole rights to broadcast it back in March 12, 2012.
Thus they claim that the broadcast of the TV series by the other two companies is illegal.
The People's Court of Beijing Haidian division has taken over the case.
Proceedings are ongoing.
