The comedian-turned-actor attended a press conference to promote the film in Beijing on Wednesday along with cast and crew. He unveiled four posters and one amusing teaser trailer at the event.
On the poster, Chow quoted a section of a poem from Chairman Mao Zedong, "Four seas are writhing while clouds and waters show anger / five continents are shaking while the wind and thunder demonstrate agitation." He said he didn't quite understand Mao's rhetoric but he felt that the poem was really awesome and fit the film's quality.
"The film is invincible, and we are invincible," Chow said, "and the story is invincible, but being invincible is being lonely. However, after you see the film, you will not feel alone."
Prepared, filmed and post-produced for three years, the film has been wildly anticipated but maintains tight secrecy for everything. With only a few posters and a short trailer released, people have only seen a quick peek of the film without knowing the actual plot. There hasn’t even been a single mermaid in all the initial promotional materials.
