Chinese bestseller "Let's Read About Mao Zedong" was recently published in the United States.

China Children's Press & Publication Group (CCPPG) and Peking University Press, since late 2014, have jointly published "Karl Marx for Young Readers" and "Let's Read about Mao Zedong."

U.S. publisher Benchmark Education Company released an English edition of "Karl Marx for Young Readers" in August 2015. Later, Leonon Media, a publisher in the Netherlands, purchased the book's Dutch rights.

Han Yuhai of Peking University wrote both books, which were translated domestically and polished by foreign editors.

According to CCPPG, "Karl Marx for Young Readers," through "plain but warm language," presents the development of Marx's thinking in particular and a history of human thought in general. "Let's Read about Mao Zedong" introduces Mao's life and thoughts.

According to Tom Raycraft, CEO of Benchmark Education Company, his team was motivated to buy the rights to the two books primarily because Marx and Mao have profoundly influenced the world and contemporary China.

The books will also help advance American students' understanding of China, said Raycraft.

Maria Jesus Gil Iglesia, former president of the jury for the Hans Christian Andersen Award, described the books as serious, well-documented, coherent, and clear.
