Speaking at the event, Wong Karwai explained why he decided to produce the comedy.
"Most of the films for which I am an executive producer are comedies. I shot a movie years ago, called Tian Xia Wu Shang or literally translated into Chinese Odyssey, which is also a comedy with a similarly star-studded leading cast. Shooting 'See You Tomorrow' is also for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of my Jet Tone Film production company this year."
Inspired by a short story taken from Zhang Jiajia's I Belonged to You, the film features the stormy romance between a young woman and a married artist with an unfaithful wife.
Takeshi Kaneshiro said he's pleased after finding the right approach to portray Guan Chun, a leading role in the film.
"The director demanded that I should portray Guan Chun as an 18 year old. He asked me to behave younger and younger again since my portrayal often makes the character look over 30. There's a gap between my portrayal and the original character in the novel. Then I focused on narrowing the gap and making my acting appear less exaggerated. I felt pleasantly satisfied when I discovered the right direction for my acting."
Tony Leung also stars in the film.
Leung said he practiced mandarin Chinese a lot, as this is the first film he's done that's required him to speak mandarin only.
Directed Zhang Jiajia, the film also stars model- actress Angelababy, Hong Kong singer-actor Eason Chan, mainland actress Ma Su, Jia Ling and a number of other heavyweights.
'See You Tomorrow' is due for release on December 23.
