The 46-year-old Zhong Weihe is a strong supporter of translation education in China and is the president of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and vice director of the China National Committee for MTI Education.
He was also the vice president of the 6th TAC Council. Zhong was the first to launch an undergraduate degree in translation in 2006, and the MTI was established one year later.
As the director of the National College Translation Teaching Assistance Group, Zhong makes great contributions to the education and training of interpreters.
He received the Outstanding Contribution to Translation Industry Award at the Second National Translation Conference in Beijing on Dec. 6, 2012.
