Dr. Mark Levine is an American sociologist who for 30 years building organizations of low-income workers.
Coming to China in 2005, he has taught at Minzu University of China since 2007.
He has written 65 songs about China, performing these at the Great Hall of the People, The National Center for the Performing Arts and in 13 other provinces. He performs in a cross-cultural duo called In Side Out, playing guitar while his Chinese partner, Fu Han, performs on er-hu.
His book Stories from my Chinese Journey was published in 2014
Dr. Levine is the recipient of the Chinese national Friendship Award and the Great Wall Friendship Award. He received the “Most Favorite Foreign Teacher of Chinese College Students” award and was just named an “Honorary Citizen” by the Jiangsu Province city of Huai’an, the hometown of The PRC’s first premier, Zhou Enlai.
