China to Hold Cross-Strait Book Fair in October
Adjust font size:

A book fair organized by publishers from Taiwan and the Chinese mainland is to be held from Oct. 26 to 31 in Xiamen, a coastal city in east China's Fujian Province.

Cross-Strait book fairs were held previously in Xiamen in July 2005 and in Taipei in September 2006, said the organizing committee.

All the mainland publishers and Taiwan's 100 biggest publishers were invited to participate in the fair, said the committee.

About 500 booths, including 150 for Taiwan publishers, will be set up in four exhibition halls covering 26,400 square meters.

The organizers would set aside 10,000 square meters for book sales.

Other activities included business talks between publishers of both sides, cultural exchanges and lectures by famous writers.

The cross-Strait book fair had become an important stage for publishers to strengthen communication and seek opportunities, said Liu Binjie, vice director of the General Administration of Press and Publication.
