The number of passenger transport in China's capital would hit 160 million during eight days of the country's National Day holiday, the municipal communication commission said Thursday.
The number would be 16 percent more than the seven-day National Day holiday last year.
This year's Golden Week was extended by one day, as the Mid-Autumn festival falls in the period.
The commission's tally showed that more than 5.85 million vehicles passed through the city's highway entrances between Sept. 30 and Oct. 7, with daily passing of 830,000 vehicles.
It said that the highway traffic in Beijing was safe and smooth during the holiday.
