China's quality watchdog said Friday that Volvo Car Corp. will recall 4,640 Volvo XC60 vehicles with seat material problem on the Chinese mainland as of Dec. 12.
The recall is due to glitch in the material used in inside of the driver's seat and co-driver's seat, and involves vehicles from the 2009 and 2010 Volvo XC60 models, said the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ).
Under the impact of extrusion, the material might twist and touch the seatbelt buttons to unbuckle the seatbelts, threatening the safety of occupants, said a company statement.
The company said, 2,377 of the 4,640 vehicles have defective panels to protect fuel pipelines.
The manufacturer will fix defective seats and fuel pipeline protection panels for free.
Owners can contact Volvo at hotline 400-678-1200 or contact the GAQSIQ at 010-59799616 or 010-65537365.
