Representatives from 532 multinational corporations from across the world gathered in southwest China's Chongqing municipality Thursday to seek business opportunities at an international investment and global sourcing fair.
Buyers from 5,600 domestic companies brought purchase lists worth more than 7.6 billion U.S. dollars to the 13th China Chongqing International Investment and Global Sourcing Fair (CCISF) which opened Thursday, organizers said.
Among those transnational corporations, 63 are in the world's top 500 enterprises.
"Entrepreneurs from more than 40 countries and regions have flown here for the fair," said Huang Qifan, mayor of the municipality.
The purchase orders mainly focus on information technology, equipment manufacturing, automobiles, construction, biochemical engineering and agricultural products, organizers said.
Information technology alone takes up nearly 3 billion U.S. dollars of the orders.
The three-day CCISF is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, the executive office of Three Gorges Project Construction Committee of the State Council, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the municipal government of Chongqing.
