Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., the parent company of Foxconn, is making plans to raise the salaries of its employees in the Chinese mainland who work in the production line by 30 percent, a manager from the firm, who declined to be named, disclosed Wednesday.
The manager said that the decision was made considering the increase on employees' life expenses and to show the company's sympathy towards them. The previous pay rise announced by the company had been of 20 percent according to president Terry Gou.
A series of suicide cases at the firm recently have drawn big concern about the working conditions in the company with Apple and Hewltt-Packard Co., Foxconn's main buyers even wanting to launch an investigation on the firm's conditions.
Gou also expressed the company's decision to relocate its manufacturing plants to western mainland in an attempt to bring employees, whose majority is from West China, close to their hometowns and family to ease work pressure and homesickness.
