Chinese shares closed mixed Wednesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.26 percent or 6.66 points to close at 2,535.39 points.
The Shenzhen Stock Index dropped 0.15 percent, or 15.30 points, to 10,324.13 points.
Total turnover shrank to 196.87 billion yuan (28.82 billion U.S. dollars) from 205.2 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 425 to 420 in Shanghai and 495 to 451 in Shenzhen.
