Samsung unveils iPad competitor

Samsung Electronics Co Thursday unveiled a new tablet PC named Galaxy Tab as the latest device to rival Apple Inc's iPad.
Samsung Europe executive Thomas Richter said the device offers features such as mobile video conferencing and a video chat function.
The thin tablet device has a 7-inch touch screen and comes with Google Inc's Android 2.2 operating system.
Samsung said at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) consumer electronics fair in Berlin that the price of the device will depend on telecommunications operators through which it will be available from next month. IFA, the world's largest trade fair for consumer electronics and electrical home appliances, opens today and runs through Wednesday.
