Adidas, a leading maker of sporting goods, reported revenue of 318 million euros ($451 million) from July to September in the greater China area, up 60 percent from 261 million euros ($370 million) a year earlier, which shows signs of a rebound from a decline in the previous quarters, according a report released today.
Adidas forecasts a big surge in the second half of this year in China, citing success in clearing inventory.
A market observer attributes its strong showing in the third quarter to an adjustment of distribution channels beyond inventory management.
Estimated at the current growth rate, Adidas will realize a growth in full-year earnings in China and regain its lost ground from Li Ning, a leading Chinese athletic wear company.
