Chinese shares close higher at midday Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.63 percent, or 19.55 points, to 3134.91 in the morning session.

The Shenzhen Component Index rose 1.1 percent, or 151.08 points, to close the morning session at 13,856.77.
