The China-U.S. Innovation Dialogue, a new high-level dialogue focusing on innovation policy, is about to be officially launched, according to Thursday's China Business News.

The Second China-U.S. Innovation Dialogue will be held in Washington in May, one day before the third round of China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogues.

Officials from the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have visited the United States to prepare for the upcoming event. They were joined by their counterparts from the U.S. State Department, the Treasury Department, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Representatives of the U.S. side will pay a visit to Beijing in April to prepare for the Second Innovation Dialogue.

Under the dialogue mechanism, the two sides will discuss major issues including the technology strategies of both countries, China's independent innovation policy, government procurement, foreign investment policies, U.S hi-tech export controls, and U.S. openness to Chinese investment.

The first Innovation Dialogue was held in Beijing last October as part of the second round of China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogues. More than a hundred representatives from government agencies, industry and academic circles attended the meeting.
