BRICS summit to bring new opportunities for cooperation

The upcoming BRICS Summit will bring new opportunities for further cooperation among BRICS countries, Russian presidential aide Arkady Dvorkovich said on Tuesday.
In a press conference, Dvorkovich noted the summit to be held in Sanya, China's southern Hainan province, would be a special one, "because of the participation of South Africa."
"Now BRICS leaders represent countries of the four continents -- Africa, Latin America, Europe and Asia. This means the expansion of geography and the economic structure, as well as new cooperation opportunities," Dvorkovich said.
When asked by Xinhua about the possible fruits of the summit, Dvorkovich said South Africa's participation in the summit has illustrated the importance of the group and the effectiveness of its cooperation mechanism.
"Main aims of this summit are the common approach to resolve the global problems. If the presidents do so, to hold the discussions, this will actually bring fruits," he added.
With regards to another Xinhua's question about the prospect of BRICS, Dvorkovich said "we (BRICS countries) are making it step by step."
"We have promoted the cooperation and expanded the interaction. We believe such an approach is the most correct," Dvorkovich said, adding that "We must act gradually and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation on a wide range of issues."
BRICS is a grouping of major emerging economies that include Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
According to the summit's agenda, the BRICS leaders will have in-depth exchanges of views on the international situation, economic, financial and development issues and outline their future cooperation in Sanya.
