Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao reiterated the government's determination to bring housing prices down to a reasonable level on a visit to a low-income housing construction site in Beijing Sunday.
"We are determined to bring down the high-flying housing prices in some cities and make sure that the prices of housing could return to a reasonable level," Wen said.
"Our commitment to provide special care to needy and low-income families and ensure they can afford housing is steadfast," he added.
Wen's Labor Day visit to the Wangsiying development, Beijing's largest affordable housing project, comes in the wake of a new round of bank housing loan stress tests, increasing speculation that the central government will issue another round of real estate price controls in coming months.
