The Duke of York, UK Special Representative for International Trade and Investment will be in China until 19th May 2011. He will visit Beijing, Chongqing and Chengdu. This will be his seventh trip to China since taking on his current trade representative role in 2001.
In Beijing the Duke will meet with Vice Minister Fu Ying, Vice Premier Li Keqiang, Vice Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan and Chairman of the National Security Fund, Dai Xianglong. The Duke will discuss the development of two-way trade and investment as part of the development of the UK-China relationship.
He will also meet with Chinese business leaders to promote the UK and China as 'Partners for Growth' in bilateral trade and investment.
The Duke said: "Whilst I am supporting the UK, I also want to support China in the UK."
"The trade and investment relationship between the UK and China continues to go from strength to strength. During my visit I look forward to discussing the development of further investment ties, and to promoting business partnerships."
"I want to highlight the UK's sectoral expertise in infrastructure, advanced engineering, education, ICT and financial and professional services and their potential value to help China achieve the economic goals contained in the 12th 5 Year Plan," the Duke added.
In Chengdu, he will meet Governor of Sichuan Province Jiang Jufeng and host a discussion with companies interested in investing in the UK.
