Chinese shares closed down in the morning session on Thursday following U.S. stocks plunge on weak jobs and manufacturing data.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went down 1.96 percent, or 53.91 points, to 2,689.66 at midday.
The Shenzhen Component Index slumped 261.74 points, or 2.24 percent, to 11,438.09.
