China's credit card delinquency ratio unchanged in Q2

Chinese credit card holders' delinquency ratio stood at 1.7 percent at the end of June, unchanged compared with the level three months ago, China's central bank said Monday.

Payments overdue for more than six months totaled 9.93 billion yuan (1.54 billion U.S. dollars) at the end of June this year, up 21 percent from the end of March, the People's Bank of China said in report on its website. The amount was up 36 percent from the level a year ago, the statement added.

Credit card overdrafts totaled 585.1 billion yuan at the end of June, , up 103.3 percent year-on-year and 23.5 percent from the end of March this year, the statement said. The delinquency ratio stood at 1.7 percent at the end of June.

China had issued 257 million credit cards by the end of June, up 24.3 percent from a year earlier and 6.3 percent from the end of March, according to the report.
