The Chinese Commerce Ministry's regular press conference saw a fresh face take the podium Wednesday as Shen Danyang made his debut as the ministry's new spokesperson.
Shen, 55, holds a PhD in economics from Xiamen University, where he specialized in international trade and the service economy. He has worked as a part-time professor and researcher at Tsinghua University and has published numerous papers on international trade.
Shen replaces former spokesperson Yao Jian, who has been appointed vice mayor of Qingdao, Shandong Province.
