Starting your own business is a dream for many people, including students. Now, Tsinghua University provides an opportunity for its students and alumni to receive trainings, exchange ideas, attract investments and share their experiences with entrepreneurship.

On Saturday, the first Tsinghua Entrepreneurship Annual Meeting was held at the university, which announced the launching of a new entrepreneurship platform, with the aim of creating a favorable environment for the university's entrepreneurship education and attracting investments for the innovative entrepreneurial projects of its students and alumni, according to Shi Zongkai, Deputy CPC Secretary of Tsinghua University.

Over the past 30 years, the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management has accumulated a vast experience in the field of entrepreneurship. It now provides innovation and entrepreneurship education and has its own entrepreneurial research center. The university also has multiple joint projects in this field with leading overseas universities and colleges, including Babson College, Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley, said Qian Yingyi, the dean of the school.

However, Professor Gao Jian said, the students' entrepreneurial needs have not been satisfied yet. The university could provide related trainings and courses, but the funds, teams, opportunities, channels, technologies and partners are what it lacks. This platform integrates all types of resources regarding the students' needs to produce more and better projects.

Gao added that a savings fund will be established for the platform, with an expected investment of over 100 million yuan (US$15.87 million). Meanwhile, a website and a center will also be set up to support the entrepreneurship platform.

After the launching ceremony of the platform, six sub-forums were held, covering the topics of the Internet, medical care & health, cultural creativity and new media, environmental protection and new energy, public financing, and entrepreneurial team building.

Meanwhile, 20-some outstanding entrepreneurial projects, among the overall existing 100 projects of Tsinghua students, were displayed during the meeting, which attracted more than 40 investors, 30 entrepreneurs and about 200 current Tsinghua students and alumni.
