Lee Shau-kee is a Hong Kong-based real estate tycoon and majority owner of Henderson Land Development. The stock price of Henderson Land Development went all the way down last year. However, Hong Kong & China Gas, Henderson's subsidiary, rose in its stock price. Lee is also the Vice Chairman of Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited.

Lee was born in 1928 in Shunde, Guangdong Province. At that time his father ran a gold-and-silver shop, where Lee spent his childhood. In the 1930s, Lee's father started a silver shop in Guangzhou. In 1948, Lee went to Hong Kong alone as a war refugee with 1,000 yuan. Taking advantage of his familiarity with the currency exchange business, Lee benefited greatly from silver and gold exchanges. The inflow of many rich men due to the War of Liberation also made the foreign exchange and gold trade boom. In the early 1950s, Lee began a hardware business and import and export trade, which went very smoothly. In 1958, Lee became a share-holder of Yong Ye Group and began his real estate business.
