South Korean handset maker LG Electronics launched on Monday its new Nexus smartphone in collaboration with Google, enhancing its product mix amid fiercer competition in the global mobile industry.

The Nexus 4, the newest smartphone in the Nexus lineup, was powered by 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latest version of Google's Android operating system (OS), according to an e-mailed statement.

The Nexus device came with a 4.7-inche True HD IPS Plus display with a resolution of 1280 to 768, featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 Processor with 1.5 GHz Quad-Core Krait CPUs. It was equipped with a high-density 2,100 milliampere hour (mAh) battery with a talk time of 15.3 hours.

"LG is proud and excited to play this role in helping build the latest Nexus smartphone. Users will be delighted by the perfectly balanced combination of form and function with the latest generation of Android," said Park Jong-seok, president of LG Electronics' mobile communications division.

The new smartphone will be available from Nov. 13 in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Germany, France, Spain and Australia, before being released in other regions, including Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia and Middle East, starting late November.
