DHL Supply Chain, the global market leader for contract logistics solutions, Monday announced the appointment of Jeroen van Oekel to the role of Vice President, Business Development, Asia Pacific for the Automotive, Engineering and Manufacturing sectors. Reporting to David Christmas, Senior Vice President, Business Development, Asia Pacific, DHL Supply Chain, Mr. van Oekel will focus on expanding the organization's footprint in these sectors across key markets in Asia Pacific.

"We are delighted to welcome Jeroen, a sector specialist with vast experience in providing industry solutions for the Automotive, Engineering and Manufacturing sectors. DHL will benefit from his expertise as the region's automotive industry continues to grow on the back of expanding domestic demand and increasing development of export bases," said Paul Graham, CEO, Asia Pacific, DHL Supply Chain.

"It has been reported that between China, India and ASEAN, there will be 2 billion people by 2020 that are of driving age and sufficient earning power. We are gearing up to meet this demand and hiring leaders such as Jeroen, who understand the pain points of customers in these sectors and can bring optimal value to them by providing the right best-in-class, tailor-made solutions," he added.

Jeroen van Oekel succeeds Suzie Mitchell who, after three years of delivering strong growth in this position, has been appointed to the role of Country Manager for DHL Supply Chain Philippines.

"We have had many successes in the Automotive, Engineering and Manufacturing sectors under Suzie's strong sales leadership, most notably with DHL being the first wholly owned foreign enterprise in China to be awarded an inbound-to-manufacturing contract," said Mr. Christmas. "I have every confidence that Jeroen will continue to drive our sector expansion in the region, especially in key markets like China, India and Thailand where we have seen exponential growth, a testament to our proven sector expertise."

Based out of Shanghai, China, Mr. van Oekel brings to the role fifteen years of extensive experience in the automotive sector, having managed the operations of integrated supply chains for major automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and tier one automotive suppliers. He has also led business development in the automotive sector in key markets across Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific. His experience in China will be an asset to DHL Supply Chain as it strategically plans its sector expansion in the coming years.
