Dr. Robert Lawrence Kuhn is an international corporate strategist, China political and economics commentator, and the author or editor of over 30 books. For more than 25 years, Dr. Kuhn has worked with China’s senior leaders and advised the Chinese Government. Abstract

China’s strategy of building the “Silk Road Economic Belt” fits coherently into China’s overarching foreign policy. Two speeches by President Xi Jinping are compared and integrated: one on his foreign policy philosophy and one on his proposal for the Silk Road Economic Belt. By mapping the latter onto the former – Xi’s Silk Road Economic Belt onto his foreign policy philosophy – we gain greater insight into both.
