Abstract

Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the initiative of building the Silk Road Economic Belt during his visit to Kazakhstan on September 7, 2013. Located in northwestern China, Xinjiang becomes a major participant, promoter and beneficiary in building the Economic Belt. Based on the research of the problems that Xinjiang has during the construction of the belt, including ecology, energy, finance, regional security and social security, this paper analyzes both the positive and negative influences, and proposes some suggestions on transforming the negative impact to positive influence.
