Abstract
In order to better grasp the focus and principles in the monetary and financial cooperation between China and Central Asian nations, this paper identifies the demand and supply shocks between the two sides through the analysis of the economic conditions for monetary and financial cooperation. It aims at studying the level of economic integration among the two sides and defining the economic base and feasibility for monetary and financial cooperation in this region. The paper finds that the economic conditions between China and Central Asian nations are different, so the cooperation should be conducted on different levels. The paper suggests promoting the monetary and financial cooperation through Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Asian Development Bank-Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation mechanism to realize its integration with economic cooperation. Meanwhile, attention should also be paid to the disparity and phase in cross-country monetary and financial cooperation. On the part of China, the status of Xinjiang and its capital city Urumqi in the future monetary and financial cooperation should be improved to better conduct monetary and financial cooperation with Central Asian nations.
