The Shanghai Disney Resort announced Tuesday that it has sent over 200 Chinese students to the United States this month for a summer internship program.
The students, selected by Shanghai Disney Resort and Walt Disney World Resort from 14 Chinese universities and colleges, will be assigned a range of work from food and beverage, merchandise, to park operations at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
After completing the two-month internship program, the students will be included in a talent pool for front-line cast member roles at the Shanghai resort.
Lara Tiam, vice president of human resources at Shanghai Disney Resort, said, "By having training and first-hand work experience, we hope these young Chinese men and women will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide world-class services to our guests in the future."
The Shanghai Disney Resort, the first Disney resort on the Chinese mainland, is slated to open in Pudong District of Shanghai in late 2015. It will include a park, two themed hotels, a large retail, dining and entertainment venue and an array of recreation facilities.
The resort is a joint venture between the Walt Disney Company and the Shanghai Shendi Group.
