Vietnam, WEF to discuss measures to increase national competitiveness

Vietnam and the World Economic Forum (WEF) will discuss measures to help the country increase competitiveness during an upcoming visit of WEF managing director to Vietnam, spokesperson of Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said on Thursday

Le Hai Binh made the remarks at a press conference held in capital Hanoi. He said WEF Managing Director Philipp Rosler will pay a working visit to Vietnam on Nov. 28.

"During the visit, WEF managing director will meet with Vietnamese government leaders, work with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh to discuss practical measures to enhance cooperation between WEF and Vietnam," said Binh.

"The WEF managing director will also work with a number of Vietnamese relevant authorities to exchange views on measures to increase national competitiveness," said the Vietnamese official.

On the occasion, Rosler will also attend a conference on the role of business in enhancing national competitiveness in international integration, which will be held by MOFA in coordination with Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hanoi.

The conference will focus on major topics including relationship between business and national competitiveness, national experience in enhancing the role of business in improving national competitiveness, and policy recommendation for Vietnam on improving national and business competitiveness, Binh told reporters.
