More than two decades of experience in international development. Former: Director, Department of HIV/AIDS, World Health Organization, led the first-ever global goal for AIDS treatment, which sought to treat 3 million new HIV/AIDS patients in developing countries with antiretroviral drugs by 2005; professorships and department chairs, Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Public Health and Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston; Director, François Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health and Human Rights, Harvard; President, Dartmouth College; Founder, Dartmouth Center for Health Care Delivery Science, a multidisciplinary institute dedicated to developing new models of healthcare delivery and achieving better health outcomes at lower costs. 1987, Co-Founder, Partners in Health, Boston-based non-profit org. Since July 2012, President, World Bank Group. Recipient of awards and honours, including: MacArthur Genius Fellowship (2003); named one of America's 25 Best Leaders, US News & World Report (2005); named among 100 Most Influential People in the World, TIME magazine (2006).
