Chen Yulu, president of the prestigious Renmin University in Beijing, may soon be appointed as deputy governor of the People's Bank of China, China's central bank.
According to media reports, the deputy governor of China's central bank is a makeshift position for Chen and he will probably replace Zhu Min as vice president of the International Monetary Fund as Zhu's tenure will end in July of next year.
Some experts believe, since the People's Bank of China is in need of people specialized in banking and financial market, Chen is suitable for the post. He served as member of the Monetary Policy Committee from March 2012 to June 2015.
Born in Guangdong Province, Chen's previous posts include vice president of Renmin University, president of the Beijing Foreign Studies University and member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the People's Bank of China.
