Chinese bankcard transactions through China UnionPay’s network at home and overseas in 2015 jumped 31.2 percent from a year ago to 53.9 trillion yuan (US$8.2 trillion).

The increase was helped by the expansion of UnionPay’s affiliates and partners as well as overseas payment channels and innovative modes of mobile payment.

Over 150 countries and regions had UnionPay network at the end of 2015, boosted by the rising number of Chinese using UnionPay debit or credit cards to pay their bills or withdraw cash.

More than 33.9 million overseas merchants accept payment by UnionPay bankcards.

UnionPay issued 52 million bankcards in over 40 countries and regions.
