The "New Opportunities & New Challenges - Financial Big Data & Hedge Fund Forum" was jointly organized and held by the Hengqin Financial Services Authority and the City University of Macao on April 29, 2016. Roughly 300 financial experts, scholars and business representatives from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao attended the forum and discussed the reform, innovation and development of Hengqin's financial industry.

During the forum, speeches titled "Financial Big Data and Financial Quantitative Cloud" and "Quantitative Hedge Fund, Artificial Intelligence and Future Investment Management" were given by experts.

Since the establishment of the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone, of which Hengqin is a part, Hengqin has been continuously promoting reform and innovation, optimizing the financial environment and bringing financial institutions and financial resources together. By the end of March this year, Hengqin had attracted 2,557 financial enterprises of different types, with a registered capital reaching 258.7 billion yuan and assets under management more than 1.9 trillion yuan.

Additionally, a multi-level financial service system has been set up for the co-development of the traditional financial institutions and the emerging financial agencies.

It is understood that Hengqin will also build a hedge fund industrial park to provide professional support and services for the settled hedge fund financial institutions. Relying on universities from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and domestic and foreign hedge fund experts, the park will conduct research on macro policies of the hedge fund, industry development and business innovation. Moreover, it's hoped that more hedge fund talents overseas can be attracted to Hengqin.
