The EY Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY) 2016 China event is now open for nominations, said EY, the award organizer and a major global financial services organization, in Beijing, on June 21.

With an aim to recognize entrepreneurs who build and lead successful businesses, this annual business award made its debut in the United States in 1986 and entered China in 2006.

With this year’s theme of seizing opportunity and leading change, the award focuses on those Chinese business leaders who have seized opportunities and taken the lead in making changes, especially when China is seeking a sustainable growth model driven by consumption and innovation.

"Embracing the opportunities presented by the economic 'new normal' and the dual challenges it represents, Chinese entrepreneurs need to either transform and upgrade traditional industries or unleash their creative potential to win in emerging fields," said Michael Bi, a Managing Partner at China Central of EY and Co-chairman of the EOY China program, yesterday. “In doing so, they will achieve new developments and breakthroughs."

To mark the launch of the EOY 2016 China awards program, previous EOY China winners and business leaders were invited to attend yesterday's panel discussion on "How to seize great opportunities to create new development drivers under the new normal."

The winners of this award from China’s mainland, Hong Kong and Macao will represent China in June 2017 to compete for the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year.

The nomination form of the EOY 2016 China awards is available on the EOY China website at www.ey.com/china/eoy.
