CreditEase appoints ex-Standard Chartered senior official

Chinese leading inclusive finance and wealth management company CreditEase has appointed Ms. Anju Patwardhan, a former senior official at Standard Chartered Bank, as the Venture Partner for its Fintech (financial technology) Investment Fund and Fund of Funds.

The appointment was intended to facilitate CreditEase's globaloperationsglobal operations, including investment management and deal sourcing, as Patwardhan will assist her Chinese colleagues from the Silicon Valley, where her office is based.

CreditEase's founder and CEO Tang Ning believes dPatwardhan's expertise in the global financial service industry, financial technology ecosystem and regulatory management will be pivotal to the company's global investment platform.

"Patwardhan is a distinguished banker with profound understanding of inclusive finance which CreditEase has been fostering and practicing for years. She also has the depth of experience and expertise required to support our Fintech agenda," said Tang.

Patwardhan was the former Global Chief Innovation Officer at Standard Chartered Bank. She also serves on the World Economic Forum (WEF) steering committees on "Disruptive Innovation in Financial Services" and "Internet for All." She has also been a speaker at the United Nations and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Since 2012, CreditEase has set up a series of fund of funds to invest in leading VC funds in China and globallyaround the world. It established the Fintech Investment Fund in 2015 which shall raise, in several tranches, an equivalent of US$1 billion and aims to identify global leaders in the financial technology industry, according to the company's statement.
