More flights delayed by bad weather in June

China's civil aviation authority reported a lower punctuality rate in June largely due to bad weather, an official said at a press conference Tuesday.
The punctuality rate of flights nationwide stood at 57.23 percent last month, 11.2 percentage points lower than the same period last year, according to Zhang Chunzhi with Civil Aviation Administration of China.
Bad weather caused 65.81 percent of the flight delays in June, Zhang said.
Many regions in China experienced heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms, disrupting busy airports.
Beijing Capital International Airport was affected by thunderstorms on eight days, with over 240 flights diverted, 2,300 canceled and more than 3,000 departures delayed.
Thunderstorms also disrupted a number of flights at Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen airports.
Air traffic control also contributed to the lower punctuality rate.
Flights increased 11.22 percent year on year in June.
No civil aviation accidents occurred in China in the first half of 2017.
