Former President of the Philippines Fidel V. Ramos has been
re-elected chairman of the board of directors of the Boao Forum for
Asia (BFA), BFA Secretary-General Long Yongtu said here
Saturday.
Ramos was re-elected at the meeting of the board of directors
held before the forum's annual conference that opened Saturday
morning in Boao, a small town in China's tropical island province
of Hainan. He will serve another three-year term.
This year's annual conference of the Boao forum has attracted
more than 1,410 delegates from 36 countries and regions.
China's top legislator Wu Bangguo, Philippine President Gloria
Macapagal Arroyo and Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz are
expected to deliver keynote speeches at the opening ceremony.
Established in 2001, the BFA is an pan-Asian platform of
dialogue for key issues affecting Asia and the whole world. The
theme of this year's annual conference is "Asia winning in today's
global economy: Innovation and sustainable development."
